All Four UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopters Deployed to Combat a Major Wildfire in Cyprus

The wildfire season in Cyprus has once again demonstrated the importance of maintaining rapidly deployable aerial firefighting assets to protect lives, property, and the natural environment. In recent days, all four HELI COMPANY UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters were deployed to support the suppression of a major wildfire, providing continuous aerial firefighting support to ground crews throughout the operation.

During the two-day firefighting mission, the helicopter crews completed more than 28 water drops, delivering approximately 84,000 litres of water onto the fire. Operations were conducted under demanding conditions, requiring a high level of precision and close coordination with ground firefighting units. The aerial firefighting effort played a significant role in bringing the wildfire under control.

Throughout the wildfire season in Cyprus, HELI COMPANY maintains continuous operational readiness with four UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, supported by experienced flight crews and technical personnel. Our teams stand ready to respond immediately to emerging wildfires, providing effective aerial firefighting support to the Cypriot firefighting authorities.

HELI COMPANY’s long-standing presence in Cyprus, extensive experience gained through international aerial firefighting missions, and the high level of training of our crews enable the company to operate effectively even during the most challenging wildfire incidents. This deployment once again highlights the important role our UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters play in the Mediterranean aerial firefighting system, helping to protect both local communities and Cyprus’ valuable natural heritage.
